Laura and Zane were married in April at Washington Street United Methodist Church before celebrating at The Venue on Main in Columbia, South Carolina. Before their big day, we got together to capture some sweet engagement pictures (check them out here!).
That’s where I met their sweet pup Abby. I absolutely love that they included their dog! One of the guests surprised Laura and Zane with sweet Abby at the wedding, and it made for the most adorable portraits (more below!).
It’s obvious that this couple is in love. Their natural chemistry makes it easy to capture portraits of the two of them together. When you scroll down, you’ll see that it was hard to limit photos from their big day! They are all *so* good!
Their love story is a sweet one. I nabbed the below from their wedding website because it’s too cute not to share:
“Zane and Laura originally met the Summer of 2014 at some of their best friend’s lake house in Chapin, South Carolina. Fast forward to a little over a year later and they reconnected when Laura asked Zane if he wanted to connect through Snapchat (millennial, much?) and ultimately got his number. After a day or two of texting Zane casually mentioned he was going to call Laura, and she panicked at the thought of an actual phone conversation. After that first (2 hour) call, Zane called Laura every night for a month before taking her on their first date.
After a few more dates and an upcoming event where Laura was going to end up meeting Zane’s parents, Laura popped the question to Zane if he was finally going to make her his girlfriend, or what?!
They both knew quickly that they had found “the one” and after 2 short years of countless drives from Columbia to Charlotte and back, phone calls, FaceTime dates, and a move for Laura to Columbia in May, Zane proposed August 1st at the very place where they originally met.”
They have their own hashtag: #bubblesandbuschlight! Laura said it’s because she loves champagne while Zane is a Busch Light kind of guy – both beverages made their way to the reception!
On the big day, the girls got ready at the beautiful 1425 Inn located in downtown Columbia. I love so many things about their details – from the engraved wedding band to the Brackish bow tie (What’s a Brackish bow tie? They are feather bow ties hand-crafted in Charleston, SC.. and they are *awesome*!)
Soon, they were off to the church!
Laura took a moment to step out of the room to read Zane’s personal note. It was a very special and sweet moment.
Laura, you are a *stunning* bride!!
Laura and Zane were keeping things traditional by not seeing one another before the ceremony. Instead, they did a “first touch” where we arranged for them to be in the same room to hold hands while not being able to see each other. After these photos were taken, they took time privately to pray together. It was a very sweet (and private) moment!
Soon, it was time for the ceremony!
We were restricted to the balcony during the ceremony, but that’s okay because it allowed us the perfect vantage point to capture the groomsmen playing a dirty trick on Zane by giving him objects during a handshake that forced him to shove them in his pockets! Check out the golf ball handoff below! Pretty slick, guys!
Everyone was excited to see Laura walk down the aisle! Check out one of the bridesmaids leaning over to see Zane’s reaction. It was obvious he was fighting back the tears! I also love Laura’s mother’s expression to her husband when she saw her gorgeous daughter!
After Laura and Zane were announced husband and wife, they stole a moment to themselves in a private room to check out the new hardware (the gorgeous rings!) and do a secret handshake. So. Stinking. Cute! I seriously cannot get enough of this couple!
Then it was time for portraits! Cue the awesome Abby for surprise family shots!
You’ll have to forgive the overload of portraits. I seriously *love* them all and had to share.. at least half.*wink*
The reception was held at The Venue on Main. It was the first time I have photographed an event here, and it really has a lot to offer! I love how Laura and Zane filled the entry way with personal details from old wedding photos of the family to personalized decor. One of my absolute favorite details was the Bible that they placed asking guests to find a verse for the couple and sign beside it.
Check it out!
The sweet emotion shown from not only Laura and Zane during their dances with their father and mother was very touching!
Everyone had fun at this celebration! #bubblesandbuschlight
No matter how crowded the dance floor, it was easy to spot Laura and Zane! They danced together many times throughout the night.
Before long, it was time for the bouquet and garter toss! Zane treated Laura to a sexy dance before Laura treated Zane to a..
..Smirnoff Ice Challenge!! (What’s that? It’s where a person hides a bottle of Smirnoff Ice. As soon as some unsuspecting person touches it, that person has to drop to one knee and chug the entire bottle) Hahaha!
Zane accepted the challenge (with only a few dozen people watching and filming on their phones)!
Laura wouldn’t let him get the garter until he finished the entire thing!
When Zane went to toss the garter, one single gentleman decided to strike a pose and drink a beer. Hilarious!
The girls were ready for Laura’s bouquet!
..and then they danced the night away with the help of some late night snacks! and of course, Busch Light! #bubblesandbuschlight
Guests sent Laura and Zane off with a sparkler exit.
It was an amazing day and a fabulous evening celebrating an awesome couple! I wish you both the best, Laura & Zane! May God guide you on your new journey together as husband and wife.
