Shannon and John were married at the Springdale House and Gardens. Their outdoor wedding with the garden backdrop was beautiful! I could not get enough of Shannon’s dress from Elegant Bridals. Before the wedding, Shannon and I went to the Lace House at the SC Governor’s Mansion located in downtown Columbia to take some bridal portraits. Click here to see that blog post!
The Springdale House and Gardens is one of my favorite venues in Columbia, South Carolina. I loved this town so much when I first shot a wedding here 6 years ago that I ended up purchasing a home in Springdale. Check out images from this beautiful wedding, and I think you’ll understand why I love it. They just redid the bridal suite, and it is the perfect place to capture getting ready photos on wedding days.
The natural window light downstairs was so dreamy. It was the perfect place for more getting ready photos of both Shannon and John.
Shannon and John, you both looked so great on your wedding day!!
Shannon decided to do a father’s first look. Shannon’s dad had not seen her in her wedding dress. I positioned him downstairs with his back turned towards Shannon so that, when she was ready, she asked him to turn and see her for the first time. This was such a precious moment! I was tearing up just watching this scene.
Soon it was time for the ceremony. The guests started arriving at the Springdale House for Shannon and John’s garden wedding. The guest book was signing a block in a Jenga set to help the couple ‘build a future together’ as husband and wife. What a neat idea! I love to see non-traditional wedding guest books.
Immediately after the ceremony, we took family portraits and portraits of Shannon and John. It was a warm day, so we kept it short before heading into the reception.
The reception was indoors at the Springdale House and Gardens.
After cutting the cake and sharing a toast, Shannon and John played the Newlywed Shoe Game – where the couple exchanges shoes, sits back to back, listens to things like “Who was the first to say ‘I love you’?” and then vote for the person using their shoe. It’s an entertaining game for everyone to witness!
After the reception was over, the couple allowed me to take them back out into the garden and take more portraits. I *love* when there is time in a wedding day to do this. The lighting later in the day was beautiful, and it allowed my second photographer and me to capture these images.
Congratulations Shannon & John! Your wedding was beautiful! I wish you both all the best the life has to offer together as husband and wife!
